Support the Emory-Tibet Partnership

Experience the arrival of His Holiness the Dalai Lama as Presidential Distinguished Professor at Emory University during a weekend of special events Oct. 20-22, 2007.

For nearly a decade, the Emory-Tibet Partnership has combined the best in Western academic achievement with the great intellectual tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. This growing relationship is generating powerful new ideas and solutions to some of humanity’s most difficult problems, from clinical depression to religious strife.

Now the Dalai Lama has taken the Emory-Tibet Partnership a giant step further. He has accepted a faculty position as Presidential Distinguished Professor at Emory University. This is a first for both East and West, and both will flourish as a result.

ADDITIONAL SPONSOR SEATS RELEASED--DEADLINE EXTENDED

You are invited to experience the upcoming visit of the Dalai Lama to the Emory campus, where he will be installed as Presidential Distinguished Professor. The list below explains how you can participate in the three-day event—October 20-22—which includes a conference on meditation and depression, a world peace-building summit, a special teaching by the Dalai Lama, an installation ceremony, a music and dance performance, the creation of a sand mandala, and an outdoor public address by the Dalai Lama.

With a longstanding commitment to educating both heart and mind for service to the world, Emory is the best and only choice for the Emory-Tibet Partnership. Emory has a growing library of more than 30,000 Tibetan texts, internationally recognized faculty educated in Western and Tibetan institutions, and close relationships with Tibetan scholars.

Emory’s roots are religious, its culture informed by ethics and deliberation, and its mind open to a world of ideas. Tibetan Buddhism, led by the Dalai Lama, fosters interdependence, compassion, and peace. Working together, we can bring hope and understanding to people everywhere. Please join us as we celebrate the Dalai Lama’s visit to Emory. It promises to be a life-changing event.
